  • If I attend in-person, what should I expect with regards to COVID-19 policies?"
IIt seems that COVID-19 is determined to become "COVID-22 no matter what we do!” So here is how we are planning to proceed. We are seeing a huge spike in positive tests and the positive case rate has tripled since December. The California Department of Public Health has not issued any new directives regarding faith-based organizations so we will meet in the Orange County Church of Christ, in-person under existing guidelines issued by the state and local Health Departments: 1) Wearing masks is required for the unvaccinated and strongly recommended for the vaccinated. 2) In settings where masks are required only for unvaccinated people, businesses, venue operators or hosts may choose to provide information to all patrons, guests, and attendees regarding vaccination requirements and allow vaccinated people to self-attest that they are complying before they enter. 3) If anyone has been exposed or is symptomatic in any way, they should not attend in-person services, quarantine for 5 days, and get tested if possible. 4) The elderly, the medically fragile, and the immunocompromised might find it safer to attend online and we will do our best to present a high-quality, live feed for all sessions. We as a committee remain closely attentive to the ever-changing situation and will adjust where ever necessary to remain safe and compliant with our State authorities. These are trying times indeed. But we are resilient people! If for no other time than this, let’s remain “joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer!”
  • Where can I go if I need to get a COVID-19 test while at the conference (or need other urgent care)?

  • Where is the nearest hospital/emergency room?
Hoag Hospital Irvine (16200 Sand Canyon Avenue, Irvine, CA 92618)
  • What about transportation between the hotel and the Orange County Church of Christ?
You are welcome to rent a car, but rideshare options (Uber, Lyft, etc) are also abundant in Orange County! The drive between the church and the recommended hotels/restaurants is roughly 3.5 miles 10 minutes each way.
  • When is the conference?
Conference dates are February 24th, 25th, and 26th, for both in-person and online attendees. You can view the At-A-Glance Schedule HERE.
  • What time zone is the conference?
All times listed on the website are Pacific Daylight Time. For those who are attending online, you can convert to your local time zone HERE.
  • What is the difference between attending in-person and attending online?
There are benefits to both. In-person attendees will be able to interact more directly with the class teachers, and of course, enjoy face-to-face fellowship with other in-person attendees. As of now, nearly all in-person classes are planned to have live teachers. Online attendees will be able to join the in-person classes via video stream, but they will also have access to other virtual classes. Each virtual class teacher can decide how to present their class and some may choose to pre-record their lesson, while others may teach their class live. Virtual classes will also have lunchtime "tables" where you can interact with other attendees via Zoom rooms.
  • Will the classes be recorded?
YES. All classes, both in-person and online, will be recorded. Recordings will be made available sometime after the conference ends (allowing time for editing and adding subtitles). Access to class recordings is included in the registration fee.
  • I see there's a price increase for In-Person Registration, but not for Online Registration?"
Correct, the Online Registration price will remain the same all the way through the conference dates. This is our effort to make the conference as affordable and accessible as possible to all.
  • If I register for in-person, but would like to attend a couple of the online classes as well, would that be OK?"
Yes. Those who register for in-person will have the option to attend all online classes as well, from the comfort of their hotel room. The information to access online classes will be provided to you prior to the start of the conference.
  • Could I complete an Online Registration but then attend just a couple of classes in-person?
Sorry, no. Admission to any in-person classes or general sessions requires an In-Person Registration, whether you want to attend one or all of the classes in-person.
  • If a friend (or a few friends) and I want to watch the conference together on one device, is that okay?"
Yes. Online Registration is per device, not per person. So, if you and a few friends want to have a watch party gathered around one computer other screen, that is fine! Please keep in mind however that this will mean that you will also watch all the same breakouts together. If the members of your group have trouble deciding which classes to attend, we would suggest purchasing more than one registration for your group.
  • Are there any technology recommendations for watching the conference online?
For the best experience, we recommend watching the conference using either a laptop or desktop computer. If possible, we also recommend using a wired internet connection as opposed to wifi, as this will provide you the most stable connection possible regardless of how many other devices are in your home. You will be able to access the confernece using a mobile device, however the quality of your conference experience may be inferior to those who use a laptop or desktop.
